Young Tyme #GMLA

So what sets you apart from all underground artists today?

I believe the fact that I have "substance" in my music sets me apart. All of my music comes from the heart, and Real life experiences that I’ve been thru. I mean, I can make a party record with the best of them, but I personally prefer to give people a story they can relate to...

What songs have come from real life experiences and from the heart?

One of the most Known songs would be "More Careful" which is me speaking on having a baby with a chick outside of my 6 year relationship with my fiancĂ©… it also features my fiancĂ© on the track speaking about how she feels about the situation… Also I have songs like "way out"  "Damned if I do" and "My Father"… just to name a few.

Where do you see your self being in five years?

Honestly, I don’t know… life has its way of panning out how it wants to, despite plans that are made, so I just go along for the ride... Hopefully, I am in the industry, doing what I love to do, and being respected for it.

If you had any label to sign under who would you sign with and why?

I think my ideal situation would be with Maybach music… I like how Rick Ross does his artist... allows them to be themselves, and gives them a platform to be successful.

How old were you when you started becoming an artist?

I started taking it serious when I was about nineteen…

Making RUME for MONO BAGENDS!

RUME Magazine:  How are you doing Mono Bagends?
Mono Bagends: It's another beautiful day with limitless opportunities and endless possibilities. Trying to stay positive and live in the moment.

RUME Magazine: For those that aren't aware, how did you get the name Mono Bagends?
Mono Bagends:  "Mono" is the pre-fix for one. I like to hang out by myself so my people starting calling me "Mono". "Bagends" is street slang for making money...you Bag- Ends....I would roll around by myself a lot and always had full pockets so that's how the name came about. No one every knew what I was up too but I was straight. If you are the only one who knows what you doing you won't tell on yourself.

RUME Magazine:  What inspired you to get into rap?
Mono Bagends: God...I heard his faint voice in my head tell me to do this. I was sitting at work dazing out and it came to me. I had never picked up a mike before but I followed the path and 6 months later I was on 106 and Park.

RUME Magazine:  Who were some of your favorite artists growing up?
Mono Bagends:  DMX is my favorite artist. I can relate to him in so many different ways. I love how he talks to God and the devil on his albums and how his personality switches up. That's how I am. I would love to meet him one day.

RUME Magazine: You made a lot of noise with the release of your single and video "On Fire" last year, now you have a new record
by the name of "Get Sexy For Me", how is this new single different from "On Fire" for those that haven't heard it yet?
Mono Bagends: The records are very different. "On Fire" was a positive inspirational record and "Get Sexy" is a intimate, smooth get busy record. All my records are very different. I use different voices and different flows depending on what the record calls for.

RUME Magazine: Who did you work with for this single?
Mono Bagends: D-Sharp did the production and XL did the hook.

RUME Magazine: What inspired you to come up with this song?
Mono Bagends:  I did not have anything in mind when I went to the studio. D-sharp started playing me tracks and when I heard it I wanted it. He actually asked me what I'm looking for and I told him I'd know when I hear it. I rarely have an idea in mind...when I hear the tracks it just comes to me.

RUME Magazine: This is a great radio record, how do you feel about radio these days?
Mono Bagends:  Thanks...I agree it would be great for the radio. I don't like that the same songs are recycled over and over. It's all about who you know and who is behind the record. Whether it is hot or not plays a small amount on where it gets played.

RUME Magazine: Do you feel that Internet Radio, Podcasts and Blogtalk Radio will soon be more popular that terrestrial radio?
Mono Bagends:  I'm not sure...they are getting more popular but terrestrial radio is still the main stay in the game...but the gap has been lessened.

RUME Magazine: What is your opinion on rap music right now as a whole?
Mono Bagends:  I think it is very watered down. A lot of people sound alike and don't flow anymore. There are some dope artists out there but overall I think the skill set has decreased.

RUME Magazine: What direction do you see the rap game going in 2014?
Mono Bagends:  I hope it is heading towards some originality but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. I think most cats try to make records that they would deem relevant as opposed to making what they truly want to express.

RUME Magazine:  Are there any links, websites or social media you would like to plug right now?
Mono Bagends:  You can check me out on bagendsblog.blogspot.com, itunes, reverbnation, facebook, twitter, etc. Just google "Mono Bagends" and you will find lots of great stuff. Thanks for  the interview.

Spring 2014 Artist Zig aka Z.I.G. Releases Teaser Video!!!!

How are you?
What have you been up to since the spring 2014 issue released?

I'm good. Very blessed actually. God is great, and I thank Him and my family and supporters for allowing me to pursue my career in music. I have been pushing the release of my new single I'm Bruce Lee which is on iTunes etc. and alot of stores. Also the official video which will drop soon, that I have a promo teaser trailer for. Staying in the studio and living/enjoying life with my bros, etc. #MusicLife

We were just about to hit on that we have been seeing alot of promotion behind your track "Im Bruce Lee".... What brought the inspiration behind the lyrics to this track?

Well as far as the hook/chorus itself, that was mostly the master Bruce Lee himself. Growing up I was greatly impressed by how great he was at his craft; amazed even. So one night before I had to work early in the morning it just came to me... "I'm Bruce Lee" ... so I started putting it together properly to rhyme and flow, then typed it down in my phone to record later. I thought it was hot enough, so I didn't want to forget it. And the verses basically just embody people who were/are also considered greats/masters at what they did/do, as well as just metaphors, punchlines and rhymes to kind of back up my point in the hook.

How many hours do you think that you have spent in the production of your itunes single "Im Bruce Lee"?

Probably about 10-20 and most of that was shooting the video...

What (in your opinion) makes this single so much different from the rest of your music? As in when they hear the song What's gonna make it stand out to the listener?

An original industry style beat, catchy hook/chorus, and 2 solid quality verses. I normally was doing alot of straight freestyles or features. This is one complete strong track from beginning to end, if I say so myself.

Does this mean that we are going to be seeing more of your upcoming tracks on amazon and iTunes?

There is a very strong possibility of that. As long as I stay focused and keep my music family around me, I am sure that will be the case. I have big plans for this present single itself and want to push it as thoroughly as possible though before proceeding though.
